**Important Update**

September 25, 2007

jack-jpg.jpgI just received news so fantastically important that I had to take a work break and update this very moment. Jack in the Box is opening up shop in Denver! Mind you, Craigslist is not my only source. My Mother-in-Law (Hi Susan!) had a visual on the location (this is especially funny because she doesn’t even know she has given me this information – how word travels). I’m so excited! You can be sure to find me there on opening day enjoying at least 10 of their $0.49 tacos! Julian, I can finally say I’m happy I moved here. Hoo-ra!

More Google Goodness

September 20, 2007

googlewifi.jpgIt is my personal belief that Google and all of its gadgets and resources make it the most useful site on the web right now. I’m certain not enough people know the vast greatness of Google, even though these tricks could save their lives! (Okay, I won’t go that far).

Did you know you can get local movie times, word definitions, answers to dumb trivia you and your spouse are arguing about and much other useless and useful information by texting Google on your cell phone? Send a text message with your inquiry to 466453. Google will text back your information and there is no charge beyond a normal text message. (For movie times send a movie name with your zip code, you’ll get listings for your city).

Did you know that Google has a free 411 service? Plug 1-800-GOOG-411 into your phone now and never pay for 411 service again.

Did you know you can virtually retrace walks on the moon with GoogleMoon?

These are just a few of Google’s endless services. You can also build webpages, play with their flight simulator, track Santa, track flights in real time, upload documents and spreadsheets that can be shared, edited and accessed from anywhere, personalize your Google page, store, edit and share photos, among much more.

You can check out Google’s blog for new and hidden services. What is your favorite Google service?

Back from my break

September 19, 2007

I left the blog world for a short break while catching up on some reading and projects. During my absence I stumbled onto some good web finds though:

A look at what life would be like if business meetings played out like internet comments. Silly stuff that left me laughing. (And slightly sad because I got all of it…)

I generally steer clear of popular music, but that makes music slumps long-lasting at times because finding new tunes can become a chore. Pandora lets you create your own radio station by inserting a song or artist you like. It will then generate a playlist based on similar music. Even better, Lifehacker wrote up 15 ways to get more out of Pandora.

Every year I make my kid’s halloween costumes, but this is certainly not for everyone. Mightygoods Shopping Blog is featuring a collection of purchaseable costumes that do not lack any originality. I am loving the adult taco.

Current projects at Ikea Hacker are making me more and more anxious for a store in Colorado. Check out the sofa transformations. (Sigh…)

What is keeping you busy and/or entertained on the internets?

Shoes Galore

September 12, 2007

new_shoes.jpgJulian and I have gotten in the habit of giving each other an allowance each month. I really like this system because it saves us from over-spending and makes us put thought into our purchases. This last weekend I put all my thoughts into updating my shoe wardrobe, because I haven’t done anything like that in awhile. After I made the rounds at DSW, Target, Old Navy and The Gap, I ended up with 7 pairs of shoes – one for each day of the week! I don’t feel at all excessive because I bargain shopped and got them all for a steal.

I also picked up some Band-Aid Blister Block, my feet’s new best friend. Before wearing new shoes you rub blister block on your sensitive foot spots and it creates an invisible bandaid, preventing friction from causing blisters. Normally I dread breaking in new shoes, but this stuff really works.

Refreshing!

September 7, 2007

water-bottle.jpgSeveral weeks ago Ljcfyi-blog reminded me of these snazzy SIGG water bottles I saw some time ago. Their $20ish price tag delayed my purchase, but I finally put in an order about a week ago. Sigg’s bottles have absolutely no leaching, which can be a problem with plastic water bottles (even Nalgene’s, I’ve heard). Plus, you can express yourself with 144 different bottle designs!
